A New Year’s Greeting from the Children’s Village.

Dear Friends and Supporters,
We want to thank you for your support over the past year and wish you a joyful and peaceful 2025!
“Asante sana na kila la heri kwa mwaka mpya” – Thank you so much and all the best for the new year.
Not only here in Germany is the new year already in full swing, but also in Tanzania the new school year has begun for the children. Still, we’d like to take a short look back at the end of 2024!
December is always a particularly exciting month, as all the children return from their boarding schools to the children’s village. It’s also the time when dance and music teacher Hassan Mahenge leads a two-week workshop with the kids. He alternates between traditional and modern dances, teaches drumming and singing. Dancing together holds great cultural importance in Tanzania and is practiced by the many different ethnic groups across the country. At any celebration, dance and music play a central role – and this tradition is carried on in the children’s village as well.
If you visit the village during this time, you’ll hear songs and drumming rhythms throughout the day. Children laughing, focused faces learning a new choreography – it’s a light-hearted, joyful atmosphere for them. And while the days are buzzing with energy, the children fall happily into bed in the evenings, tired from dancing and singing.
The photos were taken by Hannah and Alma, our dedicated volunteers in Tanzania.
